Today, our beloved nation Malaysia once again celebrated her National Day. It is this time of the year that we can witness the thick spirit of patriotism among Malaysians. This gives us hope that Malaysia will thrive despite the current political landscape.
The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) President in his National Day speech talked about the Dasa Raja Dhamma of a leader. While it is true that the conduct of a leader shapes the nation, it does not mean that as citizens, we do not have duties towards the nation. The duties of a citizen (a.k.a. householder) are clearly laid out in the Sigalovada Sutta. Show your love to the nation by carrying out the various duties expected of you.
